India (Women) Won by 15 Runs
The Greenfield International Stadium is buzzing with excitement as India face Sri Lanka in the fifth and final T20I. India are eyeing a clean 5–0 series sweep after dominating the series 4–0 with strong all-round performances.
India’s batting has been in top form throughout the series. Shafali Verma has led the charge with three consecutive half-centuries, while Smriti Mandhana dazzled everyone with a powerful 80 in the previous match. Their explosive opening stands have set the tone for India’s aggressive approach, helping them post a record T20I score of 221/2.
Sri Lanka have shown fighting spirit despite the scoreline. They registered their highest-ever T20I total of 191 in the last game. Hasini Perera provided a solid start, while skipper Chamari Athapaththu found some form, giving the visitors hope of ending the series on a positive note.
With the stakes high, fans are eager to see whether India will continue their dominance or if Sri Lanka can rise to the occasion and pull off a surprise. The atmosphere is electric, and a thrilling finish is expected.
India’s bowlers, led by Deepti Sharma and Vaishnavi Sharma, have played a key role in the series and will look to maintain the pressure. Sri Lanka’s bowlers, meanwhile, must deliver something special to contain India’s powerful batting.
One thing is certain — an exciting contest awaits. Will India complete a perfect sweep, or can Sri Lanka spoil the party? The wait is almost over.
India completed a dominant 5–0 series sweep over Sri Lanka after winning the final match by 15 runs.
Batting first, India posted 175/7, thanks to a well-timed half-century from Harmanpreet Kaur. Arundhati Reddy provided a late boost with a quick 27 off 11 balls, helping India reach a strong total.
Sri Lanka’s chase got off to a poor start when captain Chamari Athapaththu was dismissed early. However, Hasini Perera and Imesha Dulani kept the match alive with a solid partnership and half-centuries. Once both were out, Sri Lanka lost momentum and finished on 160/7.
Harmanpreet’s calm leadership and India’s depth proved decisive. Sri Lanka fought hard but couldn’t close the gap.
The clean sweep highlights India’s strength, confidence, and smart cricket as they head into major upcoming tournaments. Sri Lanka will take positives from the series and aim to return stronger. The series ends with India firmly on top, underlining their dominance in T20Is.

Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Captain):
“We didn’t play our best cricket, especially in power hitting and batting. But there are positives to take away, considering we’re a young side. Some seniors are performing well, but we need improvement in a few areas before the World Cup. Our coach motivates us to play to our potential, and some batters executed plans well. We gave India a good fight. Thanks to the BCCI and the people of India for hosting us.”
Shafali Verma (Player of the Series):
“I worked hard this year, and I’m executing it now. Trying not to repeat today’s mistake, will play longer innings for my team. ODIs and T20s are different. I love T20s, improving day by day, and will be a better player. Happy New Year, everyone.”
Harmanpreet Kaur (Player of the Match and India Captain):
“2025 has been great for us, credit to all the hard work. Now it’s about repeating good habits and keeping the winning streak alive. We’ve played a lot of T20 cricket together, believed in ourselves that we can do it. Everyone was positive when Sir spoke about lifting our standards. As a batter, it’s my responsibility to give strength to the order and contribute. Shifting to T20s from ODIs wasn’t easy but everyone was excited. We fought for this and happy how things came together. Next is WPL, important for all of us. Next six months are crucial, want to keep working hard and raising the bar. Hopefully, the way things worked in ODIs, same in T20s.”
