India (Women) Won by 7 Wickets
The stage is set for an exciting contest as India take on Sri Lanka in the second T20I at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam. India will be aiming to extend their lead to 2–0 after a convincing eight-wicket victory in the series opener.
India come into the match full of confidence following a near-perfect performance in the first game. Vaishnavi Sharma made an immediate impact on debut with an impressive bowling spell, while Jemimah Rodrigues continued her fine form with a composed half-century. The hosts’ all-round dominance was clear, and they will look to carry that momentum forward.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back. Although they showed positive intent in the opening match, they struggled against India’s intensity and firepower. The visitors will need a much-improved performance if they are to level the series.
With the Vizag crowd expected to create a lively atmosphere, all eyes are on whether India can continue their winning run or if Sri Lanka can rise to the challenge and spring a surprise. An exciting battle awaits.
India continued their strong start to the series with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Vizag, taking a 2–0 lead in the five-match series.
After choosing to bowl first, India’s spinners took control and kept Sri Lanka in check, restricting them to 128/9. Harshitha Samarawickrama was the top scorer with 33, but regular wickets and tight bowling prevented Sri Lanka from building momentum.
Chasing a modest target, India cruised to victory with ease. Opener Shafali Verma led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 69, her 12th T20I half-century, as India reached the target with 49 balls remaining.

The win underlined India’s all-round dominance in both batting and bowling. While the home crowd in Vizag enjoyed another strong performance from the hosts, Sri Lanka will need to regroup and rethink their approach if they are to challenge India in the remaining matches. With two wins already secured, India will look to maintain their momentum, while Sri Lanka aim for a strong comeback.
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Captain):
“We had a good powerplay but lost wickets, including mine. India bowled to their plans, we need to improve. We struggled to adapt as a bowling unit, it’s hard to spin here. We need 150+ runs to defend, this wicket’s good for batting. With dew coming in, it’s not easy to bowl.”
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Captain):
“Really happy with how we bowled today, the bowlers took responsibility. Sneh, Deepti, and Vaishnavi all did well. We worked hard, and it’s paying off. We discussed the game, and we need to set standards. Everyone’s raising their game, making life easy for me.”
Shafali Verma (Player of the Match):
“The ball was holding a bit at the start, so I played along the ground and took singles. Amol sir reminded me to do that, thanks to him. I kept calm and played to my range. I learn from every game; acceptance is key. Now, I’m trying to improve for the team every day.”
