India (Women) Won by 30 Runs
With the series already settled, the fourth T20I between India and Sri Lanka brings a different focus for both sides. India hold a commanding 3–0 lead after dominating the opening matches, shifting the spotlight from winning results to building depth and fine-tuning combinations ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
A clear trend has defined the series so far. India have won all three tosses, chosen to bowl first, and used the dew conditions smartly to chase down targets with ease. While the tactic has worked perfectly, the remaining games offer India a valuable chance to test themselves by batting first. Learning to set totals under pressure could be crucial in major tournaments, where conditions may not always favour chasing.
India’s team management may also look to rotate players and assess their bench strength. The lower middle order is an area that still needs clarity, and this match could provide opportunities for players on the fringes. One such prospect is 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini, who has impressed at junior level with her clean hitting. With several big tours coming up, these matches serve more as trials than formalities.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have struggled to challenge India consistently. Their batting has relied heavily on captain Chamari Athapaththu, similar to how India once depended on Mithali Raj before the rise of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur. Players like Imesha Dulani and Harshitha Samarawickrama have shown promise, but consistent performances have been missing. Frequent changes in the playing XI highlight Sri Lanka’s ongoing search for the right balance.
Although there is no pressure of the series outcome, the fourth T20I remains important. With individual performances under scrutiny and team combinations being tested, this match could play a key role in shaping the future plans of both teams.
India registered a commanding 30-run win over Sri Lanka in a high-scoring clash in Trivandrum, sealing an unassailable 4–0 lead in the series. Batting first, India produced a stunning display to post 221/2 — their highest-ever total in Women’s T20 Internationals.
Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana laid the platform with a sensational 162-run partnership, the highest opening stand for India in WT20Is. Shafali smashed 79, while Smriti followed with a fluent 80. The innings was finished in style by Richa Ghosh (40*), with captain Harmanpreet Kaur adding a quick unbeaten 16.
Sri Lanka came out attacking in reply, racing to 60 runs in the powerplay. Captain Chamari Athapaththu led the fight with a well-made 52, but India’s bowlers kept things under control as Sri Lanka finished on 191 — their highest WT20I total, yet still short of the target.
The victory gives India a decisive series lead with one match remaining. Their explosive batting proved too strong for Sri Lanka, who will aim to regroup and finish the series on a positive note. India, meanwhile, continue to build unstoppable momentum heading into the final game.

Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Captain)
“Our batting showed improvement tonight, which is pleasing. But we need to work on power-hitting in this format. India’s openers were too strong, they executed perfectly. Our bowlers didn’t quite deliver, but the youngsters are learning. Vaishnavi bowled well, she’s improved a lot. We’ll regroup and come back stronger next time.”
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Captain)
“We were running short on time, and wanted everyone to be quick. Credit to Shafali and Smriti for the great start, made it easy for us. Richa and I just finished it off. We thought of giving Harleen a chance, but Richa’s our finisher, so she came in.”
Smriti Mandhana (Player of the Match)
“It was an important knock for me, happy to contribute to the win. Adapting to the T20 mindset wasn’t easy after playing ODIs, but I worked on my game, and it paid off. Batting with Shafali is a treat; she puts pressure on bowlers. My role was to rotate strike and get into rhythm. Our team culture’s been special, we celebrate each other’s success – like Kamalini’s catch today, everyone’s stoked for her Indian debut.”
