If you are one of the lucky winners, there are specific steps you must follow to secure your prize money. Note that all claims must be made within 30 days of the draw date.
For Prizes Up to ₹ 10,000
Smaller winnings can typically be claimed directly through authorized lottery retailers or agents. Simply present your original winning ticket for verification and payment.
For Prizes Above ₹ 10,000
High-value winners must submit a formal claim to the Directorate of Sikkim State Lotteries. The following documents are required:
- Original Ticket: Ensure the ticket is not tampered with or mutilated.
- Claim Form: A prescribed form filled out in capital letters.
- Identification: A copy of your PAN card (mandatory for tax purposes) and a valid government ID (Aadhaar, Passport, etc.).
- Photographs: Three recent passport-sized photographs (one for the form, two for the affidavit).
- Affidavit: An affidavit from a Notary Public or 1st Class Magistrate.
Tax Information (TDS)
Under Section 194B of the Income Tax Act, a flat tax rate of 30% plus applicable cess (bringing the effective rate to 31.2%) is deducted at source for all winnings exceeding ₹ 10,000. This deduction is mandatory before the prize money is disbursed to the winner.
